A doctor is suing a patient for $1 million after she wrote negative reviews about her examination on several social media sites, reports CBS NY.
Michelle Levine says she’s spent $20,000 to defend herself so far against the lawsuit filed by gynecologist Joon Song.
“While everyone is entitled to their opinion, outright lies masquerading as reviews can inflict serious damage to a medical practice or small business,” Song’s attorney said in a statement.
The Manhattan woman gave Song a one star review on Yelp, ZocDoc and Health Grades.
“I gave an honest review of my experience to warn others, and he is trying to silence me. It’s a nightmare,’’ Michelle Levine told the New York Post.
Levine accused Song of billing her more than $400 for an exam that she thought should have been a free annual check up and also billed her for a manual pelvic exam she said she never received.
“Very poor and crooked business practice,” Levine wrote in her review. “I suspect that this doctor gives unnecessary procedure [sic] to a lot of people and then charges the insurance sky high prices and no one knows the difference.”

RE: Doctor Sues Patient for Libel over Negative Yelp Review: Pretty sure Joon Song is a Korean name.
RE: Doctor Sues Patient for Libel over Negative Yelp Review: This should be an easy one to prove. He is a male doctor, his patient is a female – there would have been a female nurse present. If not, there are even bigger problems for Dr. Song.
