The owner of a herbal shop in San Francisco Chinatown has been accused of selling banned drugs and prescription medication through his store, reports Patch.

The investigation began when Anti Rheuma capsules ingested by a 73-year-old man in 2014 were brought from an unlicensed seller in Oakland. Authorities believe those capsules were obtained by the seller from Vi Thieu Binh, 67, who owns Hue An Company.

Binh faces charges of selling and possessing prescription drugs for sale without a license.

SF Gate reports a search warrant was served on Hue An Company and that authorities uncovered hundred of drugs they say were contaminated, counterfeit, mislabeled or barred by the Food and Drug Administration.

“Regulations on who can sell prescription drugs exist to protect consumers,” Gascon said. “In this case, someone became seriously ill as a result of acquiring drugs from an unlicensed seller.”
