A man convicted of killing his wife by injecting her with cyanide is scheduled to be sentenced today, reports News Now.
Joseph Merlino is facing 20 years to life in prison for the murder of Ellie Tran.
“I feel satisfied my daughter got justice. However, I’m still sad because I lost my daughter and I’ll never get her back or see her again,” said Oanh Thi Le to WTKR.
It took the jury on Friday just 90 minutes to reach its verdict.
A doctor on Friday testified that a high dosage of cyanide had been injected into Tran’s body and that her death was likely very painful.
Authorities say the crime took place last year on Valentine’s Day.
