Mimi Huynh served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk.
She is White. Her husband, Wally Huynh, is a Vietnamese refugee who had a 24-year career with the Navy.
She said her husband offered to help a neighbor with her sprinkler system. Apparently there was a problem with the irrigation head. She originally tweeted her husband had offered to help the neighbor trim her hedge, but Huynh later corrected herself. Instead of being grateful, Huynh said the neighbor told her husband to get out of her country.
Huynh responded by sharing the incident on social media. The outpouring of love has been overwhelming.

Still others have commented that they would like to get revenge on her neighbor.
Huynh has refused to name her neighbor, despite pleas by some to do so.
Instead she responded with love. She gave her neighbors a plate of egg rolls.
Wally Huynh was born Hoa Minh Huynh, in a village near the Saigon province.
Here’s the irony of the situation. Huynh believes her neighbor is from Indonesia.
