The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department in Central California is calling the beating of a Sikh man and the vandalism of his truck  a “heinous hate crime,” reports the Modesto Bee.

The words “go back to ur country” were scrawled in black spray paint, across the white truck. The symbol of the Celtic Cross which is described by the Anti-defamation League as a hate symbol used by White supremacists also marred the truck.

According to India.com, two men screamed “You’re not welcome here! Go back to your country!”

“This is a random despicable criminal act against a member of the Sikh community,” Sheriff Adam Christianson said to the Modesto Bee.

Authorities said the men beat their 50-year-old victim to the ground, but he escaped major injury. At the time, the victim was putting up campaign signs in the area. He was not seriously injured.
According to a neighbor, the victim had lived in the neighborhood for 15 years.

  1. RE: Sikh Man Beaten. Racist Message Scrawled on Truck: So crazy. The Celtic Cross is from Ireland and surround… Why don’t they get that they are not from America but from another country, too… Why do white supremacists not think/know that they too could be told to go back where they came from!? The disconnect is emblematic of humongous ignorance… How do we fix that? Their ignorance should embarrass them … if they only knew …
