WSAV anchorwoman Erica Bivens in Charleston, West Virginia is recovering from a fractured skull and ruptured eardrum after a scuffle with a fellow newscaster, reports FTV Live.
Bivens describes herself as half-Japanese and half English, American Indian, and German, according to her profile on Model Mayhem.
The veteran anchorwoman had earlier that evening attended an anti-domestic violence event entitled Girls Night Out.
A police report published in a follow up story on FTV Live indicates Bivens and her husband went to a bar for more drinks when they ran into weathercaster and Biven’s co-worker Chelsea Ambriz. The two are both on WSAV’s 4 p.m. Newscast together.
Bivens told police that Ambriz has been aggressive toward her in the past. The weathercaster was confronted by Bivens after her husband told her Ambriz tried to hit on him. Bivens told police Ambriz became irate and began to shove Bivens, causing both of them to fall. Bivens said the fall caused her left eardrum to bleed and a large knot formed on the side of her head.
Police charged Ambriz with one misdemeanor count of battery.
The station has not issued a statement, according to TV Spy.
On Facebook, Bivens thanked viewers for their kind words and support. She said she was at home recovering from her injuries.
Ambriz is facing up to a year in jail and/or a fine of no more than $500. Sources tells FTV Live she has been suspended at least a week. Ambriz and Bivens appear to have both been removed from WSAV’s website.
