
Two groups rarely represented on television could both get their due in a new TV series now in development for ABC, reports Variety.
The show is being developed by Muslim comedian Maysoon Zayid who also has cerebral palsy and has been an outspoken advocate for disability rights.
Zayid is planning to write, executive produce and star in the series.
According to Bustle, Zayid is best known for her 2014 TED talk, I Got 99 Problems.
She also had a small role in Adam Sandler’s You Can’t Mess With the Zohan and appeared in the PBS special Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age.
The show in development has been titled Can Can..
Zayid was born in New Jersey and is of Palestinian descent.
