CNBC reports that UN Ambassador Nikki Haley will resign her post at the end of the year.
Haley has defended the president’s foreign policy throughout her tenure.
Their political marriage was an unusual one with Haley considered a moderate by many.
The Indian American made headlines in 2015 when as governor of South Carolina, she called for the removal of the confederate flag.
The announcement comes one month before the midterm elections and at a time when President Trump is riding high after the confirmation to the supreme court of Brett Kavanaugh.

ABC reports that Haley has stated she has no plans of running in 2020 and has pledged her support to the President. It is not know what sparked her resignation.
Haley received some ridicule last month when she stated the President drew laughter at the UN General Assembly because world leaders respect his honesty, according to the Huffington Post.
