Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu will be joining Jennifer Lopez in a new movie about a group of former strip club employees, reports Deadline.
Source close to the Hustlers project have released that Wu will be in a lead role, with Lopez set to be the ringleader of the group of women. The script for Hustlers was written by director Lorene Scafaria, based on Jessica Pressler’s New York Magazine article The Hustlers At Scores, according to Empire. The article detailed how a real-life group of former strip club employees joined forces to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.
It is presumed that Wu will be playing Roselyn Keo, the real-life former stripper who’s central to the original story. The comedy drama film will follow the group of working women in New York at the time of the 2007-2008 financial crisis.
Hustlers was just dropped by Annapurna Pictures this week and soon after picked up by STX Entertainment.
