Lost Diaper Bag Filled with $5K Returned to Owners

Lost wallet

It’s a modern day Christmas miracle.

A man who left a diaper bag containing $5,000 could hardly contain his emotions after a couple returned it to him.

Gabriel Ruiz and Gabriela Jauregui were enjoying a Christmas display in Long Beach, CA when they noticed on unattended diaper bag. When they opened it, they were stunned to find the money.

“We saw the wallet. Opened it up and saw a ton of money in there,” said Ruiz to CBS LA.

The couple waited around for the owner. When no one appeared, they dedicated themselves to tracking down the owner.

Making their mission more difficult-the identifying information they found was in Vietnamese.

The couple went to the trouble of even posting signs around the neighborhood, but no luck. Then they found a secret compartment in the bag.

“There was a bunch of papers with all the information we needed. Phone Number , a name, an address,” said Jauregui.

They reached the owner in the morning, but only turned it over after the man could describe what he lost. He has a wife and daughter.

“All I can say is thank you, thank you,” said the man who didn’t want to be identified. “You just saved my life. Can I have a hug please?”
