A jury in Chesapeake, VA Friday found security guard Jonathan Cromwell guilty of the murder of 60-year-old Jiansheng Chen, reports WTVR.
The killing gained nationwide attention because Chen had entered the private property while playing Pokemon Go.
Prosecutors say Cromwell fired at least 5 times. Defense attorneys said Chen had driven a van towards Cromwell and acted in self defense.
The sentencing phase of the trial is scheduled for Monday.
“I think the judge and the attorney all did a good job,” said Jenny Sung, who knew Chen’s family. “We need to give credit to them; they really are very cautious, and we will see Monday,” she said to WTKR.
