Protestors gathered outside the United Nations in New York Sunday in response to the Pulwama attack in India-administered Kashmir which killed 46 soldiers .
Indian Americans led the demonstration and were joined by protestors from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Israel, and Balochristan (the southwestern province of Pakistan), according to Telangana Today. The protestors chanted slogans that said “India will not tolerate terrorism” and “Where was Osama hiding?”
The Pulwama attack occurred on February 14, 2019 in Kashmir, an area that both India and Pakistan claim. However, both sides control only parts of Kashmir, and the attack took place on India-controlled land.
India has blamed Pakistan which denies any involvement.
The bomber has been identified as Adil Dar. He reportedly rammed an explosives-packed vehicle into a convoy of 78 buses with Indian security forces inside. Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack through a video, reports BBC. The video includes a young man claiming to be Dar expressing his outrage against the ongoing events in the area.
BBC reports one of the 46 soldiers killed was set to marry later this year.
