Police and FBI agents in Seattle staged an early morning raid on at least 11 massage parlors in Seattle’s Chinatown, arresting 5 and freeing 26 women believed to have been forced into sexual servitude, reports the Seattle Times.

The raid which occurred on February 28, but just announced Thursday, followed a tip from a local resident.

“There’s just so much money involved. It’s a crazy amount of money,” Sgt. Tom Umporowicz, of the Seattle Police Department told the Times. “This is Chinese organized crime, plain and simple.”

The Northwest Asian Weekly reports the 26 woman victims were from China and spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. The oldest was 62 years old.

They came to the United States with the promise of jobs, but were allegedly mislead about the types of jobs they would be offered. The owners are accused of taking their passports and turning the women into indentured servants.

The five arrested are charged with money laundering and three to six counts each of second-degree promoting prostitution.
