The espionage caper that won Sandra Oh a Golden Globe returns for a second season tonight on BBC America. Killing Eve will also simultaneously air on AMC.
If you need to catch up on the program, Esquire Magazine has published a Killing Eve primer.
The show focuses on the obsessive relationship between MI5 officer Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and Russian assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Season One ended with Polastri stabbing Villanelle.
“We have a lot of energy at the beginning of the [new] season and that pushes them into a different place of vulnerability,” Oh explained about the cliffhanger ending to season one, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Season two will be under the new leadership of Emerald Fennell who’s taking over from season one showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Fennell describes his opportunity as “terrifying but amazing.” Oh described the two as friends and believes the transition will be seamless.
“It’s all about setting the tone,” she said to reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in February. “Being able to be one of the people who gets to set the tone means a lot to me because I’ve seen how things run and there are some ways where I would love it to be different.”
