Owner of Flintstone house fights back against city

Publisher and socialite Florence Fang plans to counter-sue the city of Hillsborough in California an effort to keep her iconic Flintstone home just the way it is, reports ABC7 News.

Fang bought the home in 2017 which sits atop a hillside and can be seen off Highway 280.

The home was long dedicated to the classic Flintstone cartoon well before Fang bought it. Since 2017, she had added several statues to enhance the whimsical nature of the iconic structure.

The city of Hillsborough considers the home an eyesore and said Fang failed to get the necessary permits. Today, Fang’s attorney filed their response to the suit and announced they will be filing a counter-suit.

“Mrs. Fang is a very young 85 years old who is trying to live her dream and the city just comes in and bombards on her,” her lawyer says. “They had no right to even trespass, they had no right to tell her what she calls art and what is art.”

She does not currently live in the home, but uses it to entertain.

“Whether you like the project or not, it needed to go through design review and the permitting process,” said Hillsborough Assistant City Attorney Mark Hudak to the Mercury News.
