Sandra Oh, Mindy Kaling, Hasan Minhaj, and more named to A100 list of influential Asian Americans

As Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month begins, one hundred Asians and Asian Americans are being honored as part of Gold House’s second annual A100 list of influential Asian Americans, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

According to Deadline, the list honors Asians and Asian Americans who have made an impact in entertainment, fashion, lifestyle, technology, business, social activism, and politics during the past year.

The list was curated by an organization called Gold House, which has labeled itself as a collective of pioneering Asian leaders and creative voices. Gold House told The Hollywood Reporter it hopes the list will show the AAPI community’s “broadening impact on consumerism, culture, and business.”

“We know the world’s divided; when traditional institutions fail to unify us, it’s incumbent on our cultural leaders — founders, creative voices, nonprofit organizations and businesses — to show us a brighter, more productive path,” a Gold House spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s always been this way: cultural shifts have always preceded policy changes. The A100 List embraces the pinnacles of integrative cultural achievement to unify not only the Asian diaspora, but all communities,

The list includes a range of big names like actress Sandra Oh, comedian Hasan Minhaj, Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu, fashion designer Phillip Lim, and 2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The honorees were chosen through a selection committee of Gold House’s hundreds of members, 20 of Asian American non-profit leaders, and a number of cultural icons.

Now, Gold House is offering the honorees the chance to vote for the most impactful Asian amongst them. They will have until May 15 to vote. The winner will be announced at the end of the month. A full list of the honorees can be found on the Gold House website.
