A young boy discovers the music of Bruce Springsteen, setting him on a path of love, hope and family in a new movie set for release August 14, Blinded by the Light.
The movie is from writer/director/producer Gurinder Chadha (“Bend It Like Beckham”).
It stars Viveik Kalra as Javed, a Pakistani teen growing up in the town of Luton, England, in 1987. He endures racial and economic turmoil along with a strict father. He writes poetry as an escape.
The story features the music and poetic lyrics of Springsteen, who according to New Line Cinema and Warner Bros, gave his blessing to this film. It is Springsteen’s music which gives Javed meaning.
