If you’ve seen reruns of the original Batman TV series, you might get a hint at the over the top personality of Canadian motorcycle daredevil Duke Caboom, as voiced by Keanu Reeves, in Toy Store 4.

The star told EW that he literally jumped onto a table at his first meeting with the creative team at Pixar. The actor insisted that his character be in constant motion and strike ridiculous poses.

“I made Duke a little more gravelly but still tried to give him energy and a big personality.… I just thought that Duke should love what he does. He’s the greatest stuntman in Canada! I wanted him to be constantly doing poses on the bike while he was talking, to have this great extroverted passion.”

Reeves even struck the poses of Caboom while doing the voice work.

“Even when you’re doing the poses, you’re really doing poses there on the stage as you’re doing it. It is actually physically taxing,” said director Josh Cooley to IGN.

Reeves felt honored to join the Toy Story cast and made sure his character didn’t step on any of the more established characters from the storied franchise.

“That was one thing I was really paying attention to when I was thinking about the character and how he would talk,” Reeves said to EW.

As of Friday, Toy Story 4 has grossed an estimated $47 million since its soft opening Thursday.
