First Ever Hmong American To Play in the LGPA

At only 21 years old, Megan Khang is making big strides in the professional golf league. She is the first ever Hmong American professional golf player. According to Kare 11, she made top 10 last weekend at the KMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Khang’s parents had escaped Laos as children when communist death squads were hunting their family down for assisting Americans during the Vietnam War. When they came to America, they began a new life.

According to the Golf Channel, Khang’s father is the only golf coach she has ever known. Her father learned how to play golf in his 30s by reading Golf Digest and watching YouTube videos.

Khang’s goal is to play in the Solheim Cup, a biennial competition between the top American and top European golfers. The top 8 golfers will qualify for the American team. Khang currently stands in sixth place. There are still 13 more events until qualifying ends.
