Nearly five years after being gunned down in his patrol car, New York police officer Wenjian Liu lives on through his miracle baby.
Liu had just been married three months to his wife Pei Xia Liu when he and his partner Rafael Ramos were both killed while sitting in their police vehicle.
Pei Xia had her husband’s sperm preserved. Thursday, their miracle baby, Angelina, celebrated her second birthday by visiting the police commissioner and enjoying a Sesame Street-themed party, reports WPIX-TV.
“She loves Elmo and the Cookie Monster,” said mom to WPIX.
The Independent reports she became pregnant through IVF using sperm from her husband. Healthy sperm must be collected within 24 hours of someone’s death. The success rate for a prenancy is high- 70-80 percent. The key is proper freezing of the sperm.
The mother chose the name Angelia in honor of the father who she considered an angel.
