Filipina American actress Jules Aurora has booked a recurring role as a guest star on CBS’ The Young and Restless, the Asian Journal reports. The show remains the highest-rated daytime drama on American television.

Aurora has gained millions of views and thousands of followers since launching her social media presence in 2016 by posting weekly cover songs on Instagram and YouTube, according to her website bio. Fittingly, she will play a social media influencer named Indio on the show.

“My character…isn’t too far off from my actual life,” Aurora told the Asian Journal. “It was amazing to work on set with so many seasoned actors. I fell in love with it and there will definitely be more to come in all avenues of my career.”

The R&B singer-songwriter from Southern California has appeared on American Idol and The X Factor. 2018 saw the release of her debut EP, The Silver Lining

Aurora’s love for acting “awakened” this year when she starred in East West Players’ predominantly Filipino American staging of Mamma Mia! as Lisa, one of Sophie’s bridesmaids.

Now, she says portraying Indio on The Young and the Restless has “opened up a new door within the realm of TV and film.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be making progress and learning new things,” Aurora said.

The Young and the Restless, on air since 1973, is one of television’s longest-running soap operas.
