California Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris is pushing for the impeachment of Brett Kavanaugh following the news of the latest sexual misconduct claim against him, the Huffington Post reports.
Harris also wrote an article discussing the issue, which is available in Elle Magazine.
The House Judiciary Committee would be the ones to begin looking in the inquiry, but Harris acknowledges that they are also looking into a recent impeachment inquiry concerning Trump.
According to Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly of the New York Times, a classmate of Kavanaugh said he saw the now Supreme Court justice with his pants down while his friends pushed his penis into the hands of a female student at a dorm party.
“While the House Judiciary Committee is rightfully busy with its oversight of the president and his administration, we shouldn’t let a crowded schedule stand in the way of justice. There is precedent for the committee to dedicate resources and establish structures to help lead impeachment inquiries, such as creating a task force or retaining outside counsel” Harris said.

She then pointed out how it is still important that these allegations be addressed and investigated.
“[R]estoring faith in our justice system requires meaningful accountability and transparency. This should have been given to the American people before Kavanaugh was confirmed to a lifetime seat on our highest court. It didn’t, and it was a national travesty. But, it is within the power of the United States Congress to do it now” Harris wrote.
