Did you know that Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders have served in the United States military since the birth of our nation? We honor their service, sacrifice, and courage.
NextDayBetter, an online platform, produced this video of the role of AAPI in the US military.
As we enjoy this Veterans Day, we are reminded and honor the men and women who served in the military, especially the unsung heroes from the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. I’m proud to have grown up on a street that was home to Filipino American men and women and their families, all who immigrated to the US after World War II. Many of the men had survived the Bataan Death March.
Today, over 65,000 Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders serve in the United States military.
In fact, the story of AAPIs in service has been seen at every turn: at the birth of our nation, during the Civil War, in both World Wars, and current-day conflicts.
As they have answered the call to duty, we must answer ours. How can we honor all heroes, past and present? Let’s provide care for our AAPI veterans—tending to our wounded warriors, providing quality health care, and addressing their unique needs.
NextDayBetter is a new type of media and storytelling platform for diaspora communities. Through storytelling and community activation, we tell the untold stories of migrant communities across the globe and call them to action to solve today’s greatest challenges.
