A Case of Mistaken Identity Between Simu Liu and Chris Pang

With the newest Charlie’s Angels film being released, many media websites obviously wanted to discuss the upcoming film. This is fine, but it is also important that they make sure to mention the correct stars in the film. Earlier this week, actor Simu Liu learned that CNET had incorrectly mentioned his name in an article about the Charlie’s Angels film while referring to fellow actor Chris Pang.

Simu Liu is known for his work on Kim’s Convenience and his upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings. Chris Pang is most notably known for his role in the film Crazy Rich Asians.

Liu took to social media to bring light to this case of mistaken identity.

Actor Remy Hii, known for his roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Spider-Man: Far From Home, also took to Twitter to criticize the mistake that was made.

While Simu Liu and Chris Pang may be friends, they are not the same person.

CNET was quick to respond, but the mistake still opens up a discussion on the issue of how many Asians face the stereotype of “looking alike.”

It also brings into question whether or not mainstream media realizes that there are more than just the few Asian actors they see on film and television.

Charlie’s Angels starring Chris Pang is now playing in theaters.
