Rep Ted Lieu (D-CA) underwent surgery Tuesday night after doctors found a partial blockage of his artery, reports The Hill.
According to Patch, the Office Attending Physician recommended the congressman go to George Washington University Hospital for chest pain.
“An electrocardiogram, ultrasound and two blood tests confirmed there was no heart attack and no heart damage. A CT scan showed partial blockage of an artery that was the likely cause of the symptoms,” Lieu’s Chief of Staff Marc Cevasco said to Patch.
Doctors inserted a stent into one of his arteries.
Cevasco told The Hill Lieu remains in good spirits and plans to be back at work next week. He plans to pass the time watching a lot of TV.
Lieu has been a frequent and harsh critic of the Trump administration.
