Boon Joon Ho became the first director from Korea ever to be recognized by the Oscars today after becoming the first to win a Golden Globe. AMPAS voters nominated him for best director.

The psychological thriller also nabbed nominations for best picture, best original screenplay, film editing, production design, and international feature film.

No actors from Parasite received nominations.

The cast included Kang So Han, Sun Kyun Lee, Yeo jeong Jo and Woo sik Choi.

Still, Parasite fans expressed excitement on social media.
