Daniel Craig’s stint as James Bond will soon be coming to an end, and producers are dropping hints the next James Bond could be Black or Asian, reports the Telegraph.
“Bond’s been evolving along with all the other men in the world. Some have just gotten there more quickly than others,” said producer Barbara Brocoli.
Among the names being floated for the next James Bond are Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians fame and Idris Elba from the HBO series, The Wire.
“You think of him as being from Britain or the Commonwealth, but Britain is a very diverse place,” fellow James Bond producer Michael Wilson told Variety during a sit-down last month, according to the Mirror.
Golding’s father is English. His mother in Malaysian making him a possible fit for the iconic Bond role.
Brocoli is on record as saying the next James Bond will remain a man and that she is not interested in changing the character’s sex.
“He can be any color, but his is male,” she said.
