Videos have surfaced of two separate incidents of Asians being harassed on the New York subway being defended by fellow riders.
Emily Chen posted a video on Facebook of a another passenger berating her for bringing “corona to America.”
Emily expressed gratitude that a third rider stepped in between to defend her.
“I am so thankful that one person spoke up for me,” Chen wrote. ” If not, who knows what would have happened. I would have gone Hulk on the MTA Subway.”
Here’s what she says happen. A man sat right in front of her trying to get her attention.
He says ‘You’re Chinese, why did you bring Corona to America?’
“I am just trying to get home, just like you… Please leave me alone,” Emily replied.
At that point, a third person stepped in, asking the man to stop bothering Emily.
Chen is asking anyone who recognizes the good Samaritan to let her know as she apparently would like to thank him. Chen is grateful no one was physically harmed.
In another video, an Asian couple wearing facemasks are trying to depart the subway platform when a man is seen following them, according to the Daily Mail.
The video shows the couple trying to ignore the man who is yelling insults at them and following the pair down the stairs. A third person is seen on the video shielding the couple from the man. He even takes the arm of the women who appears stunned.
It’s unclear from the video how the incident ended.
