Actor Daniel Dae Kim just could save someone’s life.
The Hawaii Five-0 and Lost alum who’s also the executive producer of the ABC hit, The Good Doctor, has donated his plasma with the hope it could help someone else fight off the coronavirus.
“Glad to be able to donate in the hopes that the antibodies I’ve built up will help others in their fight against #Covid19, he said on Instagram.
Kim has chronicled his own journey successfully recovering from the disease on social media.
“If you were sick, but have tested negative and 14 days have passed since you last exhibited symptoms, or you tested positive but have been symptom-free for 28 days, I hope you’ll please consider making a #plasmadonation as well,” he explained.
Kim has been open about his own experience with COVID-19 which he believes he caught while in New York for the filming of the TV show, New Amsterdam. He’s stressed the gravity of the pandemic and urged everyone to follow safe social distancing practices. He’s also cautioned the public from unjustly taking out their fright on Asian Americans. In addition, he’s also auctioned off his collection of Hawaii Five-0 scripts and donated the proceeds to benefit frontline health care workers.
“I learned about the Mayo Clinic being named the national program for this effort and I wanted to do my part to help those who are still battling the illness,” said Daniel Dae Kim. “I hope those who can will consider joining me to help other Americans in need—either through the Mayo Clinic, Red Cross or their local blood donation center.”
