Cosmetic executive apologizes for racist remarks against Vietnamese Americans

Cosmetic executive Larry Gaynor tried to explain away racist remarks he made about Vietnamese Americans in the nail salon industry during a recent business webinar, reports City Pulse.

“If you’re in the nail business, the biggest enemy is the Vietnamese salon. I cannot support any partner that supports the Vietnamese. There’s just nothing I can say good for what they’ve done to our industry,” he said.

“What they’ve done to our industry is nothing but less than destroy it. Their sanitation, their pricing, the way they talk. Da da da da, he said in an attempt to mock Vietnamese. “I mean, we’re in America. We talk English. We’re not in Vietnam. We’re in America. Talk English.”

Fellow nail salon executive executive Rose Velez-Miggins called Gaynor’s remarks “a new low” in the industry.

“How can anyone sit in on that town hall and think this behavior is acceptable? I am DISGUSTED by his reference to the gestapo, claiming the Vietnamese are the “enemy” in the nail industry, his mockery, and unsubstantiated and generalized claims that “their” brands are toxic,” she said on Facebook.

Speaking to Instagram activist Jack Froot, Gaynor said “I was wrong. I got carried away with the Vietnamese,” he said. “Some of my best friends are Vietnamese. I mimicked the language to them, but I can speak it. They crack up. They think its funny, but it was bad time to use that sense of humor. I did it. I was wrong. It’s wrong. I’m sorry.”

RE: Cosmetic executive apologizes for racist remarks against Vietnamese Americans: The slave master closest confidant was always his “broken house slave’ why because he knew he would turn on the field slaves. I am sick of hearing my closest friends are the people racist mocks. People need to stop apologizing for something they meant say. They are only apologizing because they are afraid of losing money. His friends should be ashamed of themselves. No matter what race he is making fun of they should call him out.
