Muslim American Moncef Mohamed Slaoui will lead the US effort to find a vaccine to defend against the coronavirus.
SAMAA.TV reports Slaoui will head the program dubbed Operation Warp Speed. Slaoui is already credited with creating 14 different vaccines and is described by President Trump as “one of the most respected men in the world in the production and formulation of vaccines.”
“I’ve very recently seen early data from a clinical trial with a coronavirus vaccine,” said Dr Slaoui during a recent White House briefing, reported BolNews. “This data made me feel even more confident that we’ll be able to deliver a few hundred million doses of vaccine by the end of 2020.”
SAMAA called Trump’s selection of Slaoui as “ironic” given that he had blamed Muslims for increased crime rates while saying “Islam hates us.”
