Surge of anti-Asian graffiti seen in San Mateo near San Francisco

A rash of anti-Asian graffiti in San Mateo County, south of San Francisco, is drawing increased concern.

The county is 21 percent Asian American.

ABC7 News reports the graffiti began last year and includes phrases such as “China disease,” “go home China” and “f*ck China.”

Dennis Lee has been documenting the graffiti with photos . He points to recent remarks in public and on social media from President Trump.

“It’s very unfortunate. It just emboldens the people who are secretly racist and now they feel more empowered to be blatant about it,” said Dennis Lee to ABC7 News.

Police are encouraging anyone who sees the graffiti to report it immediately.

“We’re an extremely diverse city and we embrace that diversity, both with the people that work and live here,” said officer Michael Haobsh said to the Mercury News.

Police have increased patrols in the areas where the graffiti has been spotted and are urging residents to check their security cameras for visual evidence of the graffiti taggers in action.

  1. RE: Surge of Anti-Asian graffiti seen in San Mateo near San Francisco: People are SO pressed and mad about the success of Asian Americans. Keep expanding on that success in all the ways, I encourage you all.

This is the cry of someone who feels powerless in stopping Asian Americans from building good lives for themselves. Report it/move it, alter/cover it with your own graffiti, but whatever you do, don’t let these pathetic dregs stop you or drag you down. Let these people DIE MAD ABOUT IT.
