The mega popular K-Pop group BTS is joining its record label to donate $1 million to Black Lives Matter.

Variety reports Big Hit Entertainment confirmed with BLM the donation had been received.

The contribution comes just days after BTS tweeted out its support for BLM saying “we stand against racial discrimination.”

The BTS tweet was part of a social media storm by K-Pop fans to take over the #WhiteLivesMatter hashtag which many saw as an affront on the BLM movement.

Somagnews reports despite their international popularity, the Korean boy band has itself been the targets of racism.

BTS is scheduled to appear on Sunday’s YouTube “Dear Class of 2020”  commencement event with other notables such as Beyonce and President Barack Obama.  The event had earlier been postponed out or respect for the late George Floyd.

According to Variety, other K-Pop stars have also made contributions to various aspects of the movement, such as Mark Tuan of GOT7 , pH-1 and Jae of k-pop Day6, along with Jay Park and his hip-hop label H1GHR Music.

This year, the non-profit Gold House named BTS to its list of top 100 most influential Asian Pacific Islanders.
