A fight broke out at a family run hamburger eatery in Sacramento, CA after a customer became angry when a manager asked him to wait outside for his order.
Stephen Tran said the customer told him to “go back to China” and called him multiple racist names including “ch*nk, ch*nky ass covid, and covid ass.”
Under current regulations in Sacramento, in door service is not allowed.
Outdoor operations may be conducted under a tent, canopy or other sun
shelter. Bars, pubs, brewpubs and breweries may operate outdoors if
they are offering sit-down, outdoor meals
When asked to wait outside, Tran says the customer became angry.
Tran then asked him to leave and gave the customer a refund. That’s when Tran says things escalated. He says the customer threw his cup at him.
“So I jumped on the counter and told him to get out. After climbing down he pushed me and called me covid again. After being pushed i just started to punch him because enough is enough, he already threw his cup at my pushed me as I’m getting off the counter. So now my life is at a risk I will defend my self.”
Tran filed a police report, but declined to make the customer’s name public saying he should suffer no harm from the incident.
However, he fear he will need legal representation and has given permission for the launch of a Go Fund Me campaign to pay any potential legal bills.
