Sandra Oh received her third straight Emmy nomination this morning for her role as Eve Polastri in the drama series, Killing Eve.
Despite numerous nominations which date back to her time on Grey’s Anatomy, Oh has never won. She is seeking to be the first Asian woman ever to win an emmy for lead actress.
According to ET, in 2017 Riz Ahmed became the first Asian to ever win in the best actor category for the HBO mini-series The Night Of. Prior to that, The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi won for best supporting actress in 2010, becoming the first Asian to win in an acting category.
Oh remains the most nominated Asian actress. She must once again compete against her co-star Jodie Comer who is seeking her second straight best actress Emmy.
Also this morning, Ramy Youssef became the first Muslim American to win an Emmy nomination. The star and co-creator of Hulu’s Ramy received two Emmy nods, one for acting in the comedy category and the other directing.
