As fans mourn the death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, among those mourning with them is Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
The two appeared to have a genuine relationship with Boseman’s last tweet before his death dedicated to Harris.
“Yes, @KamalaHarris,” he tweeted along with three clap emojis on August 11. #WhenweAllVote #Vote2020
Harris spoke about that tweet during a special 20/20 dedicated to Boseman which aired on ABC Sunday night.
“That his last tweet was to encourage people to exercise their right as citizens to vote, to participate in their democracy, born out of love of country, it’s just so reflective of Chadwick,” Yahoo reported Harris said.
“Heartbroken,” Harris tweeted on Friday night. “My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble. He left too early but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family.”
The two both graduated from Howard University.
Harris followed up her tweet on Friday with two other tweets.
“From his groundbreaking work in Black Panther to his portrayal of Thurgood Marshall, Chadwick Boseman helped paint a new picture of what’s possible. Keeping his family, friends, and fans in my prayers during this difficult time,” she tweeted while sharing a scene from Boseman’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show.
Harris also shared a clip from Boseman’s commencement speech to Howard University students.
“During his commencement speech at our beloved Howard, my friend Chadwick Boseman said, “press on with pride and press on with purpose.” In his name, let’s keep fighting.”
