Twin nine-year-old girls tragically lost their lives in an apparent murder-suicide, ABC 7 reports. The victims were stabbed by their father, Timothy Takehara, who then committed suicide on the street outside their home.
The crime occurred around midnight on Wednesday in Placentia, an area 30 miles from Los Angeles, CA. According to the New York Post, the motive of the murders are still unclear.
The attack occurred while the mother and grandmother were asleep, NBC 4 reports.
The Placentia police said officers were called to the residence in September 2019, ABC 7 reports, responding to a ‘verbal argument between adults.’ The department recently released the ‘heartbreaking’ 911 call the mother made.
“My husband just stabbed my children,” she tells the 911 operator.

The girls were third graders at Golden Elementary School, the New York Post reports.
According to ABC 7, the children’s school district, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District will have grief counselors on campus for the next few days.
“Our thoughts are with the students’ family, friends, and loved ones as they cope with this tremendous personal loss,” the school district said in a statement, ABC 7 reports.
“It’s horrific,” Sgt. Bryce Angel said, according to NBC 4. “It’s not something that anyone would want to see. To see the tragic death of two young children, in one word, it’s horrific.”
