Marine IDed in racist video threatening to shoot ch*nks

The Marines say they’ve launched an investigation into a Private First Class accused of threatening to shoot ch*nks in a racist video filled with profanity, reports the military paper, Stars & Stripes .

In the video which surfaced Thursday on social media, the Marine cites President Trump who blames the Chinese for the coronavirus.

“If a ch*nk headed mother f*cker comes up to me when I’m in the fleet, say 556 b*tch. That’s all I gotta say. Say 556,” he is heard saying on Twitter.

556 reportedly refers to the 5.56 bullets used in firearms such as the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. The Haenel MK 556 is also a gas-operated assault rifle.

The Marines have identified the racist in the tweet as  Pfc. Jarrett Morford, 20.

“There is no place for racism in the Marine Corps. Those who can’t value the contributions of others, regardless of background, are destructive to our culture and do not represent our core values,”  Capt. Joseph Butterfield, a Marine spokesman said to Task & Purpose.

According to the paper, Morford attended Marine combat training at Camp Pendleton and then attended communications and electronics school at Twentynine Palms, California.

Trump last week in a video he released after being diagnosed for Coronoavirus said “It wasn’t your fault this happened…it was China’s fault.” He pledged that China would be made to pay.

In the tweet, the racist quotes Trump.

“As the honorable Trump said “It was China’s fault. China is going to pay.”

Trump use of rhetoric against China has been cited as one of the biggest reasons in the rise of anti-Asian bashing in the country, which now numbers more than 2,500 reports to the website Stop AAPI Hate.

The Tweet is the latest in a series of Marines accused of making racist statements on social media.

“You have to be ruthless in rooting it out, and when you find it, you’ve got to separate it like a cancer, quickly – because it clearly will spread,”  said Marine Commandant Gen. David Berger. “It just starts to tear apart the fabric at the tactical level … We can’t have that.”

  1. This American Marine, in addition to sharing Trump’s demented envy, of China’s successful economy, is likely also sharing another domestic economic issue: “lack of insufficient income”, humongous debts — including student debt. Is the U.S. now the “SICK MAN OF AMERICA”?

  2. Do well in school, and then land a job that is at least decent. Don’t be forced into
enlisting in the US military because you have no other options. You may think that the public respects you for being in the service, but trust me, they don’t. In fact, many people see military folks as a bunch of lazy, dumb, uneducated freeloaders, who have idea on what they want to do with their lives.

  3. Jarrett Morford’s behavior is unacceptable and unjustifiable. Like any American who behaves inappropriately, that person should be held accountable and take personal responsibility of his or her shortcomings.

For Jarrett Morford, this would be a tremendous setback in his life. As Americans, we are also world citizens, and should carry ourselves with integrity and of good character.

Can he turn his life around and make better choices? Absolutely. Could Jarrett Morford learn from his setback? Absolutely.

I’ve met individuals worse off than Jarrett Morford. Yes, there can be and there are.
And they ended up in prison. And have already gone to that point where men committed their acts of whatever circumstances they were in.

Men who didn’t want to be there, and didn’t care to turn their lives around. While there were those I spoke with, men, that were ready to make an effort to turn their lives around, replace their bad choices to make good choices.

Not in their words. In their actions.

Jarrett Morford’s anger toward “China,” and his “racial slur” is unjustifiable. He reminded me of a Facebook member who used the same derogatory “racial slur” Jarrett Morford used and more racial slurs against me. I come to find out that person was a “troll.” Like Jarrett Morford, he threatened acts of violence and hinted acts of terrorism. Overboard nuts. I come to find out, he was not an American. Facebook may have deleted his account, because I no longer see his account as active. A good thing. He was a bad apple on Facebook.

Then another Facebook member, a random Asian American, who wrote, “we don’t give a BLEEP about what’s happening in China.” And thus, that person’s kind of words, attitude, and mentality, about China, which can cause rifts and unrest. That’s the kind of words, attitude, mentality, and tone Jarrett Morford had as well. It’s inappropriate and wrong. Wrong is wrong is wrong.

Wrong behavior is wrong behavior whether a person is pro Donald J. Trump or pro Joe Biden or pro Jo Jorgensen. Jarrett Morford ought to be held accountable for his behavior, and take ownership of it. Which Jarrett Morford should be ashamed of. Whether he represents the left or the right or the middle, he should be ashamed of his behavior. Wrong is wrong, whether he a left or a right or a middle.

This is why this recent boot camp Marine graduate is now under investigation. Which he ought to be. I am glad he is under investigation.

Jarrett Morford has no excuses, there are Chinese Americans who served and currently serve in our United States Armed Forces… including the Marine Corps.
