A Senate Republican who has served with Kamala Harris for nearly three years bungled the Vice Presidential nominee’s name during a Trump rally.

The Hill reports Democrats are calling for Sen. David Hill (R- GA) to apologize, accusing him of blowing on a racist dog whistle.

You can hear what Perdue did in the 5 second clip below posted by the Democratic candidate running to unseat him, Jon Ossoff.

The Georgia Democratic Party accused Perdue of using “intentionally disrespectful and bigoted racist tactic straight from the Trump playbook.”

“Senator David Perdue has served in the Senate alongside Vice Presidential nominee and Senator Kamala Harris since 2017,” the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said in a statement to ABC News. “He knows her name and he knows how to say it. His disgusting performance today is nothing more than a desperate dog whistle from a losing politician who was already caught running anti-Semitic ads against Jon Ossoff. Perdue has shown he lacks the dignity and respect that Georgians deserve from their U.S. senator, and he must immediately apologize.”

Harris’ communication director Sabrina Singh simply stated “Well, that was incredibly racist.”

Republicans ran to Perdue’s defense, calling it an innocent mistake.

“Senator Perdue simply mispronounced Senator Harris’ name, and he didn’t mean anything by it. He was making an argument against the radical socialist agenda that she and her endorsed candidate Jon Ossoff are pushing, which includes the Green New Deal, Medicare-for-all, raising taxes, and holding up COVID-19 relief for the people of Georgia,” a Perdue spokesperson told The Hill.
