Police in Renton near Seattle are investigating a violent confrontation inside the Gurudwara Singh Sabha.

The Seattle Times report police responded to reports of a large fight between members of the temple. At least one person sustained stab wounds and five had to be hospitalized.

Police described the incident as “mutual combat” between warring factions in the temple. KOMO TV reports about 50 people were involved. At least one person was stabbed and five others hospitalized.

“It was pretty chaotic,” Officer Chris Greenwade with Renton Police told KOMO.

The officer said the fight goes back two weeks over religious differences and actually began in Kent and now has reached Renton.

Members of the temple expressed shock.

“This is a very peaceful place people come to religiously meditate and violence is not the answer to anything,” Dharam Nea Singh said.
