A video shared on Instagram shows an Asian American man approaching a Black You Tuber and calling the property a “no “n***er zone.”
The man has been identified by that YouTuber, LilAJDre, as Paul Ng, a realtor with Russ Lyon Sotheby’s, International Realty in Scottsdale, Az.
AsAmNews reached out to Sotheby’s and it confirmed it had fired Ng. The page where Ng’s biography had been has been replaced with the following statement:
“A video was posted to social media showing one of our agents, who is an independent contractor, demonstrating severely racist behavior. Upon learning of this video we took immediate action in severing his license and condemning his abhorrent behavior.
“Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty does not and will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind. Period.
“We have notified the Department of Real Estate pertaining to his severance as well as the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS and National Association of REALTORS.
In the video, you can see LilAJDre and another man behind the camera who he only identifies as @itschief.kane being approached by the man.
LilAJDre asks him why he’s coming over.
“I just want to see what you’re taking pictures of.”
“Why is it your business?” asks LilAJDre.
“You know what, we’ve had problems here.
“I don’t care, you don’t know me. Why you taking pictures of me? And I don’t know you. Do you know a lot of White men are doing racist things in this world, sir?”
“No.”
“You don’t know that?”
“I’m a racist,” says the Asian man to LilAJDre. “This is a no n***er zone.”
AsAmNews reached out to Russ Lyon Sotheby’s, International Realty for additional comment.
“Sunday we learned of an extremely hateful and racist video that was posted to social media showing one of our inactive Independent Contractors, Paul Ng, demonstrating abhorrent, unacceptable behavior. Upon learning of this video we took immediate action in severing his license, terminating his involvement with us effective immediately and condemning his disgusting behavior. Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty does not, and will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind. Period. Never has. Never will.
“We have notified the Arizona Department of Real Estate pertaining to his severance as well as Sotheby’s International Realty, the Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS, ARMLS and National Association of REALTORS. In addition, we are notifying the Arizona Department of Real Estate of Ng’s behavior with the recommendation that his license be revoked.
“Though Ng had not sold a home with us in two years, commissions we find going back further than that will be donated to local charities.”
The New Times also reports that Ng has been charged with disorderly conduct by the police, but did not have details of the charge. AsAmNews has reached out to the Scottsdale Police Department for additional information.
