Award winning Yellow Rose coming to blu-ray & DVD

Sony Pictures has announced that Yellow Rose will be available to purchase digitally on Dec. 22th and on Blu-ray and DVD on Jan. 5th, reported Media Play News.

Directed by Diane Paragas, the film features Grammy-winning Broadway actress Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon, Hadestown) as a young Filipina in Texas aspiring to be a country musician that must choose between staying with her family or leaving the only home she has ever known.

Noblezada was discovered by a casting director at the 2013 Jimmy Awards in New York City while she was still in high school, according to Broadway World. She starred in Miss Saigon in its 2014 West End Revival, which eventually earned Noblezada her first Tony nomination in 2017. For her portrayal of Eurydice in the musical Hadestown, she received a second Tony Award nomination and won a Grammy Award. Yellow Rose is her feature film debut.

Alongside Noblezada also features Tony Award-winner Lea Salonga, who is best known for supplying the singing voices of the Disney princesses Mulan in Mulan and Jasmine in Aladdin. Like Noblezada, Salonga is also a Broadway actress, starring in Les Miserables, Flower Drum Song, and Miss Saigon. She is a pioneer for Asians in the performing arts, being the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award, the first Filipino to sign with an international record label, and the first Asian woman to portray Eponine and Fantine in the Broadway production of Les Miserables.

Award-winning country musician Dale Watson and Princess Punzalan (Mula sa puso) accompany the two actresses in this film festival favorite. Yellow Rose premiered in May 2019 at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival before screening at various international film festivals, going on to win 13 film festival awards. The movie’s soundtrack, featuring both Noblezada and Salonga, is now available for streaming.
