Looking Ahead to the New Year

CATEGORIES

By Shirley L Ng, AsAmNews Staff Writer

We can all agree the past year has been surreal. From the number of COVID deaths, xenophobia in Asian communities and Black Lives Matter protests, 2020 was certainly a year of pain and injustices. Masks somehow became political, while the spread of fake news and conspiracy theories caused so many people to pit themselves against others they once called friends. The election ended up being over a week long with claims of voter fraud. The year 2020 has certainly been a trying time for all of us.

A new White House administration waits in the wings ready to take over our country’s affairs while new vaccines give us hope that we can stop the spread of COVID-19. This is the glimmer of brightness we all need in 2021 after months of despair.

We are ready to say goodbye to 2020 and ring in a more hopeful and brighter new year. Let’s hear what some are looking forward to next year.
