Former UN Ambassador under President Trump, Nikki Haley, is distancing herself from the former president while setting up a possible run for president in 2024.

The National Interest reports Haley made comments to Republicans after the Capitol Siege to Republican leaders.

“President Trump has not always chosen the right words,” Haley said, according to a source who spoke to told POLITICO. “He was wrong with his words in Charlottesville, and I told him so at the time. He was badly wrong with his words yesterday. And it wasn’t just his words. His actions since Election Day will be judged harshly by history.”

Trump is largely considered the front runner right now should he decide to run again in four years. However, a Senate vote to impeach him would prevent him from ever running again.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today will bring the article of impeachment to the U.S. Senate. A trial is expected to follow in about two weeks.

Earlier this month, Haley announced she is setting up a PAC amidst speculation of a 2024 run, reported The Hill. For the record, Haley says right now she is more concerned about the 2022 midterms as Republicans seek to regain control of Congress.

The PAC will be “laser-focused on the 2022 midterms and electing a conservative force to the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to serve as a bulwark against the liberal agendas of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi,” she wrote in her fundraising email.

“There is nothing ‘normal’ about an agenda focused on socialism, defunding the police, the Green New Deal, and Medicare for All,” Haley continued, according to CNN.
