Murder suicide suspected in death of family of four in Pennsylvania

Police in West Whiteland Township near Philadelphia suspect murder suicide in the deaths of four family members, including 8 and 15-year-old boys.

CBS3 reports the four have been identified as Deepak Prabakhar Kulkarni, 50; Madhusudan Ayda, 47; Shubham Deepak Kulkarni,15; and Sharvil Deepak Kulkarni, 8. Authorities found all four dead in the basement of their home Sunday.

Authorities believe all four victims sustained gunshot wounds, according to the Daily Local, and had been dead for several days before being found. The final cause of death is still pending.

“This is a tragedy beyond comprehension because two children and both their parents are dead,” Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said to the Daily Local. “These were members of our community. We will do everything in our power to learn why this horrific incident happened. My sympathy goes out to the family for their unimaginable loss.”

“It was tragic to hear and it hit everyone pretty hard yesterday,” said a neighbor to CBS3.

“We used to see the boys playing sometimes over here in the playground,” another neighbor James Bowers said.

The American Kahani reported out-of-state family members called police after not being able to contact the family for several days.

Extended family is being described as heartbroken and still trying to come to terms with what happened. Both parents worked in the technology sector.

Anyone in mental health crisis or considering suicide should call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
