Restaurant owner accused of making racist COVID comments

A chef identified as someone working out of New York is accused of making racist statements about Chinese people and COVID-19.

The man is heard making comments in Spanish which Asians with Attitude translated in a recent Instagram post.

“It’s so delicious to eat tacos, arepas, ceviche, pollo a la brasa and then these Chinese people comes to eat bats and we get this issues god dammit,” the translation reads.

AsAmNews has not confirmed the identity of the man making the comments, but has reached to a local New York restaurant in hopes of getting confirmation. He may be both a sous chef at one restaurant while he owns another in New York City.

Those who left comments on the post said he should be “cancelled.”

Another person wrote “Everyone has their own standard of what’s normal, depending on where you grew up and what you got, you just gotta eat what you can to survive and it’s normal to those people. So who are you to judge when you both don’t live according to the same standards. Indigenous people eat Pupae which is a large larvae, bush markets still exist in parts of Africa, people in China eat insects like we eat crisps, the list goes on. Even a kid can understand something so simple; funny how so many racist people can’t. It doesn’t matter what race you are, if you grew up around people eating bears or lizards etc, you gonna eat what they eat.”
