The host of a German radio show compared the mega K-pop group BTS to COVID-19, drawing the wrath of fans.

GMA reports Matthias Matuschik of radio network  Bayern 3 said he hopes “there would be a vaccination against it soon.”

“Nothing against South Korea. You can’t accuse me of xenophobia,” he went on to say, according to Mashable. “I have a car from South Korea,” he said.

Matuschik was reacting to a performance by BTS of Cold Play’s Fix You on MTV Unplugged.

His radio network Bayern 3 defended its host saying it is his personal opinion presented in an exaggerated way.

The BTS Army, the name given to fans of the group, immediately went on the offensive.
