President Joe Biden Thursday ordered all flags on federal buildings to be flown at half staff in memory of the Atlanta spa shooting victims.

Biden told NPR the action is being taken “as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence.”

“Whatever the motivation here, I know Asian Americans are — they are very concerned, because as you know I have been speaking about the brutality against Asian Americans for the last couple of months and I think it is very, very troubling,” Biden said Wednesday, according to People.

Thursday night, Cherokee County District Attorney vowed to work for justice.

“We are acutely aware of the feelings of terror being experienced in the Asian American community. We hear your concerns and want it to be known that these victims will receive the very best efforts of this office. We anticipate beginning to meet with the impacted families in the near future, and earn their trust, as we continue to develop our case against the defendant,” the statement said.

Today, both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Atlanta to meet with leaders of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
