Customers rally around Asian restaurant in Kentucky after threats

From Facebook

Customers of an Asian restaurant in Ft. Mitchell, KY came out in droves this weekend to support its employees and owners who had endured racist taunts and threats.

Fox 19 Now reports multiple threats were received Thursday, just two days after the Atlanta Spa shooting which left six Asian women dead and two others.

The Oriental Wok responded by taking to its Facebook page to express solidarity with the victims in Atlanta and to announce security precautions it had put in place to protect its employees.

It also said local police had increased patrols of the area.

WCPO reports loyal customers of the restaurants showed their support by packing the restaurant this weekend.

“It’s just a horrible thing that these people had to deal with because of what going on with the virus. We literally read what was going on and felt like we needed to come and support the organization and the community,” said first-time customer, Judy Cosset to WCPO.

The restaurant had recently just been featured in a local magazine.

“We are fortunate to be in a community that embraces us as its own,” said owner Mike Wong in a statement.
