Nathan Chen skated to near perfection in the long program to rise from third to first place and win the World Figure Skating Championship.

The performance in Stockholm, Sweden earned Chen his third straight World Title.

The Olympic Channel reports Chen hit five quadruple jumps to catapult over the competition.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say this was my best free program ever, but it’s definitely one that I’ll remember forever,” Chen said, according to NBC Sports. “I was in a position where, in theory, I can come back, but realistically I know these guys are going to lay down [strong programs].”

Chen has been on a tear since placing a disappointing fifth at the 2018 Olympics. He hasn’t lost since.

Japan placed second and third with 17-year-old Yuma Kagiyama winning the silver in just his first World Championship appearance. Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Yuzuru Hanyu slipped from second to third.

According to NBC Sports, all Americans who have won the the world title the year before an Olympics have gone on to take the gold.
